Be a part of our Bakkie of the Year competition

Think you know your way around bakkies? Not shy when a camera is pointed in your direction? Reckon you can form an impartial opinion about a bakkie?

Got a valid EB driving license? Got nothing particularly important to do on Friday, 29 November? Then we need YOU for our inaugural Bakkie of the Year competition, in partnership with Bush Lapa off-road caravans, Opposite Lock’s Tough Dog suspension, and Rhinoman aluminium canopies.

This is the first BAKKIE OF THE YEAR competition – the most comprehensive test of its kind ever conducted in the popular double cab 4×4 bakkie segment. Independent ISO handling tests, fuel consumption tests, comprehensive towing tests, load-carrying tests, safety feature survey, ownership surveys, 4×4 tests – and finally, a small panel of Joe Public drivers, joining a panel of experts, that will test drive each bakkie and adjudicate scores accordingly. It’s all geared towards real-world, real-people, real bakkie scenarios.

We’ve got them all lined up (in alphabetical order):

Ford Ranger 2.0Bi-Turbo Wildtrak 4×4

Ford Ranger Raptor

Isuzu D-Max 3.0DT LX 4×4

Mahindra Pik Up 2.2D 4×4 Karoo
