Porsche has released some images and video of the new Porsche Cayenne that is set to debut on 29 August at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The media released by Porsche shows prototypes and pre-series Cayenne vehicles being tested in harsh environments, from the sand dunes of Dubai to the ice and snow of Alaska.
“The third generation of the Cayenne also had to endure the stop-start traffic in the hot and humid conditions of Chinese cities, master test tracks in Sweden, Finland and Spain, and was transported to South Africa, Japan and New Zealand to complete extensive on and off-road testing”, explains Porsche.
Referred to as the E3 internally, Porsche claims that the Cayenne test vehicles completed a total of 4.4 million kilometers over a period of three years, driving in all sorts of conditions. Besides the extremely harsh environments the SUVs had to endure everyday conditions in urban traffic, gravel roads, highways, as well as runs on the Nurburgring, Hockenheimring, and Nardo.
The new Cayenne is believed to be powered by a couple of turbocharged V6 and V8 petrol mills with some plug-in hybrid options to join the lineup later on. The diesel units will be reportedly delayed in Europe, as a repercussion of the emissions scandal.
