Mitsubishi’s brilliant Pajero Sport has undergone some surgery to make it look a bit more like its siblings, which already feature the brand’s new “Dynamic Shield” design language.
In essence, the Pajero Sport now has the same front end as the recently-facelifted Triton, while the rear remains more or less the same.
The engine and drivetrain are carried over as before and that’s a good thing. The 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel (133kW/430Nm) is a sweet powertrain and at its best when mated to the smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic. The brand’s famous Super Select part-time four-wheel drive system is also part of the package.
On the inside it has a new eight-inch colour display in the instrument cluster, as well as an equally large colour touch-screen interface in the centre console. As an added convenience feature, the Pajero Sport now sports an electric tailgate. On the safety front, Mitsubishi added lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert.
The Pajero Sport will be made available in South Africa, but a confirmed release date has not been set.
