4×4 Trail VIDEO: Land Rover Defender 2.2 takes a dip!

by Leisure Wheels

17 October 2012

If you’ve read the November issue of Leisure Wheels, you’ll be looking for this video! We took the new 2,2 diesel Defender 110 on our 4×4 test trail, and got an unexpected surprise.

We take the same lines up and down this track, and the same person always drives in the same direction – so it was with a bit of a shock that road test editor GG van Rooyen felt the Landy’s back lift up as it teeter forward when coming down over the rock face. While it doesn’t look steep in the video – this is actually the point where we find out whether the vehicle will make it to the top or not, as the loose gravel means that many a 4×4 have failed at exactly this spot, and had to go back down! Enjoy – and as always, let us know what you think!
