Rickard Nell has just been announced the ultimate winner of an all-new Ranger 3.2 TDCi XLT Double Cab, following a public voting process that saw his challenge being chosen as the ‘toughest’ in Ford’s Global Ranger Challenge competition.
Earlier this year, Ford embarked on a search for South Africa’s toughest challenge in an effort to find three people that could put the all-new Ranger through the ultimate test in the most challenging conditions. Hundreds of entries were received with Rickard Nell, Gerhard Koekemoer and Klaus Wasserman emerging as the top three.
Rickard took the all-new Ranger to the infamous Moegatle 4X4 trail in the North-West Province, which offers steep inclines that appear almost vertical in places. He pitted the all-new Ranger against the treacherous off-road obstacles which included water, mud as well as the mountain climb dubbed “The Rock” found at the trail, which have seen a lot of 4X4’s needing assistance to go up or down this hill.
“I am so happy to have won the all-new Ranger” said Rickard, who is about to get married later this afternoon. “This must be the one of the best days of my life and the perfect wedding gift. Today I get to walk down the aisle beside my beautiful wife and later drive away in a brand new Ranger. I want to thank Ford for this great prize and look forward to doing big things with the Ranger.’
