Opel has added an interesting compact crossover to its local line-up, called the Adam Rocks.
The Adam Rocks, which is based on the Adam, comes with a swing top canvas roof, increased ride height, cladding on the wheel arches and front and rear skid plates.
The ride height has been increased by 15mm, which won’t get you very far off-road, but the Adam Rocks was never designed to venture much further than a nice gravel road. Instead, Opel hopes this increase offers a nice view of the road ahead.
It’s powered by a 1,0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 85kW and 170Nm on tap. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
The Adam Rocks comes as standard with climate control, height adjustable driver’s seat, height and reach adjustable steering column, power windows, cruise control and a split/foldable rear seat for added practicality.
An essential piece of equipment is the high-resolution seven-inch touch screen of Opel’s Intellilink system which sync’s with the user’s phone enabling the driver to listen to music, enable the driver to make use of Apps loaded to their phone (both Android and iOS) and display relevant information on the screen. A number of Apps are pre-loaded, including BringGo navigation and TuneIn internet radio. There’s also a multifunction steering wheel to fast-track many of these processes.
The Rocks also features Siri Eyes Free, a unique-in-class feature that integrates the Intellilink system with later-generation iPhones and iPads via a USB cable. It activates Apple’s voice control so that you can communicate with Siri.
As part of Opel’s complete care package, Rocks comes with a standard five years or 120 000 kilometre warranty, roadside assistance, and 3 years or 60 000 kilometre service plan.
