Alfa Romeo has confirmed that its very first SUV, the Stelvio, will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio will be the second model in the company’s expanded product range, following on from the Giulia sedan, and be underpinned by a tweaked version of the platform found under its five-door sibling.
Both rear- and all-wheel drive variants can are expected to have a similar range of engines to the Giulia. That means the upcoming 2.2-liter diesel from Alfa Romeo will be available as will a 2.0-liter petrol delivering either 150kW, 186kW or 210kW depending on spec. As with the Giulia, the engine line-up will be topped out by the firm’s twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine delivering up to 372kW in Stelvio QV guise.
On a styling front, many of the design traits from the Giulia are expected to be carried through to the Stelvio. It is hard to be certain, as the prototypes have been heavily camouflaged.
