The all-new Mitsubishi Triton double-cab has just launched in South Africa, just over a year since we tested one Down Under.
The local range is made up of four double-cab models with the starting price of R479 900, each fitted with Mitsubishi’s new 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine. The power delivery is rated at 133 kW (at 3 500 rpm) with torque peaking at 430Nm (at 2 500 rpm). The 4×4 and the 4×2 models each have the option of a six- speed manual or five-speed automatic gearbox.
The two 4×4 double-cab models offer 215mm ground clearance and this Super Select II four-wheel-drive system includes four modes (2H, 4H, 4HLc and 4LLc). The all-new Triton has an approach angle of 28 degrees and a departure angle of 22 degrees. The break-over angle is 25 degrees.
