The Audi S Q5 TDI is now available in South Africa. This sporty SUV is the first ever Q model to wear the famed “S” badge.
The S Q5 features restyled front and rear bumpers, a roof spoiler, black brake callipers and the obligatory “S” badging to differentiate it from its less-powerful brothers.
Under the bonnet you’ll find a 3,0-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel, which produces 230kW and 650Nm of torque. Power is sent to the permanent all-wheel drive system via an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox. This allows the SQ5 to sprint to 100km/h in just 5.1 seconds and on to a governed top speed of 250km/h.
Audi claims a fuel consumption figure of 6,8 l/100km on the combined cycle, with CO2 emissions of just 179g/km.
It is also an unusually powerful towing vehicle, with a rated towing capacity of up to 2.4 metric tons.
The sport suspension lowers the vehicle body by 30 millimetres, while it is fitted with 20-inch, five parallel-spoke design wheels as standard, so it’s not going to venture too far from the beaten path.
On the inside the electrically adjustable seats are adorned in Alcantara leather. The instrument dials are grey and include a 3D-design S badge, the needles are white and the pedals and shift paddles have an aluminium-look finish. Additional visual highlights in the interior are the S gear lever knob, the S badges on the doorsill trims, the start button and the specially-shaped steering wheel.
The S Q5 retails for R794 500, which includes all taxes and a standard five-year/100 000km Audi Freeway Plan.
