British car manufacturer Bentley will be taking the Bentayga, their new luxury SUV, on to the ice as part of the 2016 ‘Power on Ice’ experience. Claimed to be the fastest SUV ever produced, the Bentayga can reach 100km/h in around 4.0 seconds and clocks a top-speed of 301km/h.
A frozen lake in Finland will play host to a four-day customer experience where the well heeled get to skid, ski and screech around this wonderland and be among the first to experience the Bentayga’s “extraordinary capabilities in one of the most beautiful and challenging environments in the world”, as Bentley puts it.
The “Power on Ice” program runs throughout February 2016 and guests willl be able to test this behemoth that delivers 447kW and 900 Nm from its W12 engine. Participants will also be able to sample some of Bentley’s other offerings including its performance flagship, the Continental GT3 on the 10 ice tracks designed by four-time World Rally Champion and two-time ice-speed record holder, Juha Kankkunen.
Two days of ice driving training provided by Bentley’s Ice Driving Team, coordinated by Kankkunen will be on offer along with numerous other activities including a traditional smoke sauna and a night-time husky-sled safaris to a historic reindeer farm. All this for the very cool price tag of €11 900 (R181 273) per person.
