For those who like things a little more sporty, BMW has released new Black Fire special editions of their X5 M and X6 M high-performance crossovers.
Both models are powered by the familiar a 4.4-liter M TwinPower V8 engine which produces 423 kW and 750Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system. This allows the crossovers to pack a punch by being able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.
The special editions come with a Sapphire Black Metallic exterior, a blacked out grille, and 21-inch M alloy wheels with a black finish. The mirror caps are also carbon and the cars come with BMW M compound brakes with blue calipers.
Inside, the black Merino leather upholstery comes with contrasting Mugello Red leather accents. The crossovers also have piano black trim, an anthracite headliner and The “Edition Black Fire” logo on the right side of the interior.
There is a choice between a leather-wrapped M steering wheel with red contrast stitching or a BMW M Performance Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with light-blue leather accents.
Set to go on sale in Germany this August, BMW South Africa says it plans to bring in 25 units (ten of the X5 M and 15 of the X6 M) of these new special editions to our shores and they’ll be available in October 2017.
