The 2015 Chevrolet Trax small SUV has received the highest possible 5-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program in the United States. The rating was given to both front- and all-wheel drive models.
The award further cements Chevrolet’s commitment to put safety and quality first. And places the Trax among the safest in the quickly expanding small SUV segment in Sub-Saharan Africa.
“The Trax is the perfect example of Chevrolet’s commitment to putting state-of-the-art technology and class-leading safety features where it matters most for the customer,” said Brian Olson, Vehicle, Sales, Service and Marketing
The Trax’s body structure forms a protective cage around the passenger compartment, with 66 percent of it composed of high-strength steels – including ultra-high-strength steel in strategic areas. The Trax features 10 air bags standard and ABS optional on the LT model.
The NCAP evaluations include front, side and rollover testing. Trax also received a 5-star score on a side pole impact test, which simulates hitting a tree just behind the driver’s side A-pillar at 20 mph.
