Stage 11
In the first spot of luck for Robby Gordon, the American won the flood ridden 11th stage of the 2013 Dakar Rally yesterday. Lasting only 110 kilometres, Gordon was clocking the fastest time when runners were told to stop, placing Gordon in first place for his eighth Dakar career stage win and first of the year.
Flash floods were caused by heavy rains, despite which the Imperial Toyota Hilux team of De Villiers and Von Zitzewitz were leading the stage at the 110km mark. Officials declared the stage results as per control point one at 67 kilometres, however, where Robby Gordon had set the fastest time.
Stage 11’s results won’t be counted in the overall standings, however, so it doesn’t help him in his quest for victory at this year’s Dakar. That means that Peterhansel is still in the lead, and the rankings remain unchanged from Stage 10.
