Both the Opel Zafira and Meriva MPV duo always played their unassigned roles of blending into the environment perfectly. They have always had an inconspicuous existence, completing the daily schoolrun and going unnoticed amongst the masses…
Now they are back with a bang, or at least in about two years’ time.
The two models will not be sold as MPVs anymore as they will move up a rung to SUV status, or more accurately CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicles). The surprises don’t end there, however, as GM (General Motors) and PSA (Peugeot & Citroen) will reportedly join forces to develop these new models.
Both companies will sell these vehicles under their respective brands and all models will share the same powertrain and suspension components, the styling though will be unique to each brand.
The engine line-up has not yet been confirmed but for now, Opel appears to use the same naturally aspirated four-cylinder and three-cylinder architecture residing in its current models.
