Volkswagen SA has introduced a face-lifted Touareg. The upgrades include changes to the styling and a few technical features.
The bi-xenon headlights have been completely redesigned, as have the taillights. A few new exterior colours, as well as alloy wheel options, join the mix of new features.
On the inside, changes have been kept to a minimum. The buttons and switches are now illuminated in white, which VW says adds a sophisticated feel. The range of interior colours and styles of leather has also been updated.
The engine line-up remain unchanged with one petrol – 3.6 V6 FSI (206kW) – and two diesels – 3.0 V6 TDI (180kW) and 4.2 V8 TDI (250kW). All engines are coupled with the standard 8-speed automatic transmission.
VW has fiddled with the suspension a bit, to make the Touareg “more agile and more comfortable”.
The new Touareg has a standard permanent four-wheel-drive system and a steel-spring suspension. As an option, there is a four-wheel-drive system with low range gear and innovative air suspension that is excellent for off-road use.
The Touareg is also available with an R-Line package, which adds a dash of sportiness and aggression to an already handsome vehicle.
The new Touareg comes standard with a 3-year/120 000km manufacturer’s warranty and 5-year/100 000km Automotion maintenance plan. All models have a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty and 15 000km service intervals.
