The facelifted Volkswagen California camper van has made its debut online, before its official unveiling later this month at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon.
The model you see here is the range-topping Ocean derivative, which comes as standard with a two-tone exterior and the flashy grille. The rest of the range also feature the slightly revised design, which includes new headlights, daylight running lights and some new bumpers front and rear.
Some high-tech additions include a new multi-colour display in the overhead console and an all-new digital instrument cluster. The former makes is easier to operate all of the California-specific features, like the lighting in the living area and the pop-up roof. It also allows you to check the angles of the car, which makes the setting up process easier.
On the mechanical side, the California has new electric steering. New safety systems include Lane Assist and Cross Wind Assist, which is standard on all models.
The California is powered by Volkswagen’s 2.0-litre diesel engine and comes standard with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive will be an optional extra.
