Fiat has released its top-of-the-line Cross version of the Fullback bakkie to its customers in the United Kingdom.
Setting it apart from the regular Fiat Fullback, this lifestyle vehicle comes with a model-specific black sport bar, black side mirrors, a front grille with black detailing, a silver skid plate, black side steps and 17-inch matte black alloy wheels. The bakkie’s look is completed by the new all-black cargo space, with the Fiat logo in relief.
The Fullback Cross is powered by a 2.4-liter turbodiesel unit that delivers 133kW of power and 430Nm of torque. The Fullback Cross comes with a selectable four-wheel drive system that features a Torsen central differential which can be locked at 50-50 front/rear axle split, low-range gears and a lockable rear differential as well.
The long list of standard equipment includes features like Bi-Xenon headlights, front fog lights and LED daytime running lights, rear parking sensors, soft tailgate opening, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control and heated leather seats. A seven-inch infotainment system with navigation is also present.
Safety features include electronic stability control, trailer stability assist, lane departure warning (LDW), hill start assist and a traction system with four different modes.
Fiat says that the Fullback Cross is able to transport up to 1.1 tons and tow 3 100kg.
The Mitsubishi-based Fiat Fullback Cross will be available in the UK market in September, with prices starting from £26 495 ((about R 478 666) before VAT for the manual six-speed version and £27 895 (R504 000) excluding VAT for the automatic five-speed version.
