Fiat recently introduced the Toro light-duty bakkie, built on the Jeep Renegade platform, in Brazil and Fiat Brazil are looking at the possibility of adding an SUV based on the Toro to its lineup.
A report, published by AutosSegredos, states that the SUV will mirror the exterior and interior of the Toro but with increased comfort features and possibly offered in both five and seven seat versions.
The engine line-up will also be borrowed from the bakkie and will include a a 1.8-liter petrol and a 2.0-liter turbodiesel, producing 104kW and 127kW, respectively. The smaller engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and two-wheel drive, while the 2.0-litre comes with a choice of 6-speed manual or a 9-speed auto, with either a two-wheel or four-wheel drive system.
