Foton South Africa has added a special edition of its 4×2 Tunland Luxury double cab premium bakkie to its model lineup.
The Tunland was launched in South Africa in 2012, initially only as a double cab 4×4 ( we tested on recently on ‘The Road to Hell’) and later a 4×2 double cab followed.
This luxury version of the 4×2, known as the Granite, has been fitted with black alloy wheels and 16-inch Cooper all-terrain tyres. A black roll-over bar and black nudge bar, as well as some special exterior black finishes complete the look. Colour options for the Granite are white and silver.
Inside, the seats are upholstered in leather and Bluetooth phone connectivity also put it a step above the regular Tunland 4×2. The Granite nomenclature is stitched onto the front head restraint covers and it also appears on the bottom of the front doors and on the tailgate.
The Cummins ISF engine develops 120kW of power and 360Nm of torque, has a combined cycle figure claimed to be 8.3l/100km and the emission rating is only 219gm/km.
It is priced at R329 995 and is covered by a 5-year/150 000km warranty and a three-year corrosion warranty and roadside assistance. The 4×2 double cabs also have the benefit of a 2-year/40 000km service plan included in the retail price. The service interval of 10 000km means that less costly and abundantly available 500ppm diesel fuel may be used.
