Ford has announced pricing for the highly anticipated Ranger Platinum and Ranger Tremor, which join their extensive double-cab line up in 2024.
In a two-part series we published last week, we looked at the double-cabs that will make their way into the South African market in 2024. Two of the six models come courtesy of Ford, who will introduce their most luxurious model, the Ranger Platinum, and their off-road specialised Ranger Tremor.
Ford Ranger Double Cab 3.0L V6 4WD 10AT
Give the Ford Ranger chrome treatment, a silky smooth V6 engine and a comprehensive off-roading package and you get the Ranger Platinum; the most premium offering within the Ranger family, bar the Raptor.
The Ranger Platinum’s pricing remained speculation for a while, but after driving it in New Zealand mid-2023 it was obvious to me that it would be competing with the likes of Volkswagen’s Amarok Aventura, and would set customers back by six figures.
You can read more about what sets Platinum apart from its Ranger siblings here, but ultimately it comes as no surprise that we welcome yet another double-cab to the R1 million club.

Ranger Tremor Double Cab 2.0L BiT 4WD 10AT
Revealed at Ford’s 100th Anniversary celebration in 2023, the Tremor adds even more spice to the extensive Ranger line-up.
The Tremor is essentially XLT meets WildTrak X, with the focal point being the vehicle’s off-roading capability, straight off the factory floor. As with the Wildtrak X, the concept behind the Tremor is that customers will buy a bakkie that offers a comprehensive off-roading package, and therefore not have to spend money on aftermarket customisation.
What the Tremor will offer is all of the best off-roading bits of the Wildtrak X – an uprated suspension with Bilstein Positive Dampers, beefy General Grabber AT3 tyres and a host of innovative off-roading technology – but packaged at a spec level more similar to Ford’s XLT model; fewer creature comforts but less expensive than the Wildtrak X.
