Ford South Africa has just released a new derivative of the popular Ranger into the local market, known as the FX4.
The limited edition Ranger Fx4 is based on 3.2-litre XLT double cab 4×4 variant (that delivers 147kW and 470Nm) and its name badge is derived from the bulky Ford F-Series pick-ups found in the United States.
Ford SA see the product as ‘communicating strength and toughness’ through a series of styling modifications, which include black finishes for the radiator grille, fog lamp bezels, exterior mirrors, roof rails, as well as the door and tailgate handles.
The FX-4 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with that are also treated with the ‘Panther Black’ finish. This colour is carried through to the side steps, rear bumper and tubular sports bar. The load bay is fitted with a protective bedliner and Fx4 decals can be found on the sides and rear tailgate.
The limited-edition Ranger Fx4 is only available on 4×4 derivatives and can be ordered with the six-speed manual or automatic transmission. It comes in a choice of four colours: Frozen White, Moondust Silver, Sea Grey and Panther Black.
“This is an exciting special addition to the Ranger line-up that has its own distinct personality, and was designed to be unique in a cluttered market place,” says Tracey Delate, General Manager, Marketing at Ford SA.
