When a manufacturer names a car after something that precedes a natural disaster, you know that the vehicle means business. Judging from the pictures the F-150 Tremor certainly looks like the type of vehicle you would pick to take on a post-apocalyptic landscape.
The Tremor isn’t all brute though. Under the skin it has a sophisticated engine. The turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine is said to provide the performance of a V8 with the economy of a V6. The figure certainly suggests that there may be some truth to this claim with 268 kW @ 5000 r/min and 570 Nm of torque at 2500 r/min.
The interior features bucket seats and Ford’s flow-through centre console, as well as black leather surfacing with red accents and bits of Alcantara everywhere. The MyFord Touch and SYNC systems seen on other Ford models are standard.
The exterior gets massive 20-inch wheels and what Ford calls the “FX Appearance Package”. It should prove capable off-road too, with an electronic locking rear differential in both two and four-wheel drive models. Unfortunately, like the rest of the F-150 range it will not reach our shores, but hopefully that storming engine will in another model.
