Foton SA has added two single cab derivatives to its Tunland range.
The single cab uses the same 2,8-litre turbodiesel Cummins engine as the double cab. In the single cab it produces 96kW and 280Nm of torque.
Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a five speed manual gearbox, so it was never going to be a rough off-roader, but you do get 220mm of ground clearance and a limited-slip differential, which should help it cope somewhat.
It does shine in the payload and towing ability categories. The single cab Tunland can carry a load of 1130kg, or tow a braked trailer of up to 2,5 tons.
Standard interior specification is quite generous, with air-conditioning, electric windows, a multi-function steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity and a radio/MP3 player with USB and AUX inputs.
The Luxury version adds a host of cosmetic features, including a roll bar, nudge bar, a short sidestep and a cover for the load bin.
The Tunland single cab Comfort retails for R239 950, to which you can add another R10 000 for all the cosmetic features mentioned above
