The Ford Ranger Raptor will be unleashed in South Africa sometime in 2019, but it’s not yet clear whether the USA will get it.
For now, the Americans have to make to with a petrol powered Ranger, which is actually more powerful than the local Raptor, but without the fancy suspension setup.
The 2.3-litre obviously has loads of tuning potential, because Hennessey recently unveiled its tuning package for the USA Ranger.
The modifications include high-flow air induction, stainless steel exhaust and an uprated engine management system.
With the Hennessey kit in place, the 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol produces 223kW, which still sounds a bit tame. There’s another package on top of this, which pushes the output up to 280kW.
To make it look more aggressive, customers can opt for what Hennessey calls the “VelociRaptor” styling upgrades. These include a front bumper, rear bumper, 18-inch alloys, 33-inch tyres, flared wheel arches and a few badges on the inside and outside.
