Hyundai builds Grappler Veloster for SEMA
It seems the annual SEMA show is going to be off-road orientated this year.
Hyundai, which is known for forking over huge amounts of money for SEMA customs, recently unveiled the first car it will show in Vegas.
The Veloster Grappler Concept is based on Hyundai’s new coupé, which isn’t available in South Africa.
This particular example rides on an air suspension to make room for the large all-terrain tyres.
Up front it’s equipped with a new bumper and some bash plates. The bonnet has also been replaced with a carbon fibre unit. On top it has a Thule roof basket.
In interior is equipped with a roll cage, Recaro racing seats, dome tent and first aid kit.
Hyundai did not say what engine it’s using, but it will most likely be the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that produces just over 200kW.
Since in is the SEMA show, we expect this car will be producing way more than that.
We’ll keep you posted as soon as the full specifications are available.
