Jaguar’s F-Pace debuted in South Africa on Saturday 7 May, at the Jaguar Simola Hill Climb event. The vehicle’s entry into our market was anything but ordinary, just as when the SUV made it’s first appearance in Frankfort by performing the word’s largest loop-the-loop.
The F-PACE was an aerial display for thousands of spectators to witness, during the scheduled lunchtime break at the event, suspended from a Sikorsky S-61N helicopter by a cable attached to a custom vehicle platform. The F-PACE was set down at the top of Simola Road after it’s flight of fancy, however the rah-rah didn’t stop there. South African, Hollywood based actor and Jaguar ambassador Sharlto Copley (best known for his roles as Wikus van der Merwe in the Oscar-nominated science fiction film ‘District 9’ and Howling Mad Murdock in the 2010 adaptation of ‘The A-Team’) took the F-PACE for its maiden voyage down the Simola hill.
The SUV is equipped with a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine producing 280kW and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It has all the features one would expect from a luxury SUV, such and more such as heated- and electrically reclining rear seats. Technology includes the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, a 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster, and a laser head-up display. F-PACE will also introduce Jaguar’s Activity Key – a wearable accessory (much like a watch) that also serves as a key fob.
The Jaguar F-PACE goes on sale in July 2016.
