JMC recently launched the updated version of its humble Vigus.
JMC says the name is derived from the word “vigour” and claims this bakkie embraces endurance, vitality, strength and the ability to endure.
The version now on sale is the second generation Vigus. It is also available in China (where it is built), Australia, Chile and Uruguay, as well as a number of other markets.
The range kicks off at R201 880 for the basic single cab and the most affordable double cab is priced at R282 880. For R348 990, you can get behind the wheel of a four-wheel-drive double cab with a 2.4-litre common rail turbodiesel engine and generous comfort and convenience equipment. Move up to the SLX flagship and you get a touch-screen and reverse parking sensors.
The diesel engine produces 88kW and 290Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. JMC claims a fuel consumption of just 8.0 litres/100km.
Irrespective of trim level or engine (a 2.4 petrol is also available), the JMC Vigus double cab is sold with a 5-year or 100 000-kilometre warranty and a 5-yr/60 000km service plan.
