Last month the all-new Sorento was named “Best Family SUV” in Australia’s Drive Car of the Year Awards and also won CarsGuide’s overall Car of the Year award, ahead of the Mercedes GLC and Mazda MX-5 and another seven SUVs.
CarsGuide judges score finalists on performance, value for money, cabin environment and safety. Looking for “real cars on real roads for real people” there where 11 contending vehicles.
The cars are tested in all conditions, including up to 110km/h on a freeway and down to 60km/h over harsh road surfaces and the KIA Sorento was a clear winner. It is the first time that the Car of the Year winner was voted for unanimously in the 19-year history of the award.
“It’s everything you need for a family,” CarsGuide editor, Richard Blackburn, said upon announcement of the winner. “It is very good. And for the price it’s very, very good,” he added. “It’s a winner.”
