It seems as if the upcoming Lamborghini Urus, which is scheduled for release in 2017, might sport a V8 turbocharged engine.
This is big news, since Lamborghini has never before made use of turbocharging in their cars before, opting instead for naturally aspirated V8 and V10 powerplants. Thanks to increasingly stringent emissions regulations, especially in Europe, the Urus might be getting a turbo set-up.
The news broke at the recent launch of the Lamborghini Huracan, where the company admitted that it would have no option but to switch to turbocharged engines in the near future.
What engine would the Urus use? The most likely contender would be the four-litre twin-turbo V8 currently used by parent company AUdi in the RS6 and RS7. Sharing both an engine and a platform with the upcoming next-gen Q7 would make sense, since this would ensure easier profitability for Lambo’s first SUV.
