The launch of the all-new Defender is just around the corner, but it’s nice to see custom builders still churning out new models based on the old beloved Defender.
The latest example of this comes from a company called Himalaya, based in South Carolina in the USA. It specialised in building once-off restorations and charging ridiculous amounts of money for them.
This particular model is called the Spectre Defender and its inspired by Defenders driven by the baddies in the Bond movie, Spectre.
It retails for a cool R4 million and that’s before you even add taxes and import costs.
The Spectre Defender is based on a crew cab bakkie model, but it equipped with GM LS3 V8 producing around 400kW. Other engine options are available too, including a Cummins 2.8-litre diesel, or a supercharged version of the LS3 engine producing even more power…
Other niceties include a revamped interior with a touch screen interface, 37-inch Toyo mud-terrain tyres, custom Fox suspension and Brembo brakes.
