Land Rover introduces Disco with four-cylinder power

Land Rover has introduced a new engine for its Discovery SUV.

To celebrate the launch of this new engine Land Rover South Africa has packaged 50 units with additional features to serve as a value-packed but still affordable entry to the range.

The 50 units are based on the popular Discovery SE package which comes standard with LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a 10-speaker Enhanced Sound System, Terrain Response, 12-way leather seats and InControl Touch Navigation with Apple CarPlay, but adds some useful extras at an attractive price.

On top of the standard items, are an added sunroof, power inner tailgate, roof rails and keyless entry. Inside, the new Discovery benefits from third-row seating, a centre console cooler, ebony headlining and second seating row USB ports.

The Discovery now includes Land Rover’s SD4 Ingenium Diesel engine with 177kW and 430Nm, mated to a standard 8-speed automatic transmission. In this iteration the seven-seater accelerates from 0-100km/h in 8.7 seconds while returning an average fuel consumption of 6.4l/100km (NEDC).

Available in either Fuji White or Indus Silver, the new feature-packed Discovery is available from R1 240 700 and includes Land Rover’s standard 5-year/100 000km maintenance plan and warranty.
