Volkswagen is moving up in the crossover segment with the addition of the Cross up!
The German marque’s smallest passenger vehicle, received some slap-on go-anywhere styling additions in the hopes of gaining a slice of the metaphorical crossover pie. Some of the prominent visual upgrades on the cross includes new roof rails, black coated protective moulding, 16” Cross specific rims, scuff plates with ‘Cross’ lettering and an enhanced 18mm ride-height.
The carmaker didn’t stop there, however, as it also addressed one of the major issues of the up! in standard guise: accessibility for rear passengers.
A welcome sight on the refreshed supermini is the 5-door option now offered. The two extra rear doors now make it easier for rear-benched passengers to enter as well as exit the vehicle.
The interior of the Cross up! will also receive some zesty improvements with a leather steering wheel, model specific seat trims and an optional ‘Tornado Red’ facia.
The extra niceties do, however, not come cheap as the 5-door Cross-up will retail for R181 400.
