We’ve covered a few modern campers recently, some costing more than R2 million and offering all sorts of connectivity and every luxury imaginable.
This week we’re getting a glimpse of what campers were like in the 90s. This Hilux camper is in prime condition and was imported to the USA back in 1993.
It’s 100% original and it’s called the Hilux Galaxy Camper. And while it doesn’t have Wi-Fi or a flat screen, it does have a place to sit and a very old-school tube television.
Only 80 of these were made in Japan. This particular model only has 94 000km on the clock, which is nothing for that old 3.0-litre diesel engine.
It’s not fast, however. It only had a top speed of around 110km/h.
Even so, it was sold before it even arrived in the USA, most likely for a huge pile of money.
