LW 4×4 Safaris To Namaqualand’s Diamond Coast

Our Diamond Coast adventures starts on 12 December when, in the afternoon at 5pm we meet up at a guest farm (Kannabieduin) in the Kleinsee area. Directions will be supplied before departure.

Kleinsee became famous when a teacher found the first diamonds in this area while he was looking for lime particles for the new school that was being built. Kleinsee will be our base accommodation for the next four nights.

On the first night we will have a wonderful seafood dinner together, and have the opportunity to meet the rest of the group and to put names to faces.

On day two, 13 December, we start the dune safari with a historical touch by doing the challenging shipwreck dune route starting near Koiingnaas.

On this part of the Diamond Coast, the Atlantic Ocean forced quite a few ships ashore and prevented them from completing their voyage. Among others to be seen are the wrecks of the Piratiny, the Arosa and the Border.

The highlight of this dune route is the beautiful stretches of coastline and archaeological sights that date from the Stone Age.

Day three: Today’s dune route along the coast – or better known as the Strandveld – is through an area rich in flora specimens. The route with its challenging dunes will lead us through different dune systems into an ever-changing natural flora area with small mammals and antelope roaming in the area.

Day four: We have a relaxing day on the Atlantic Coastline with a chance to catch your own crayfish for lunch on the beach. A crayfish permit can be obtained at your nearest post office.

On day five, 16 December, we have breakfast and then say our goodbyes – until next time.

The cost of the tour is R3990 per adult sharing, and R1995 per child under 16 sharing.
