Mercedes Benz shocked everyone last week by declaring that it’s going to build a double-cab bakkie.
The Mercedes bakkie (it doesn’t have an official name yet) will be launched by 2020.
The German company has stated that it’s going after the Latin American, South African, Australian and European markets. It will be designed and developed by Merc’s van division.
“We can perfectly serve customers looking for a vehicle that offers a high level of utility and at the same time has the comfort, safety, and design of a Mercedes-Benz passenger car,” says Volker Mornhinweg, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans. “We will design our brand’s first pickup according to this recipe for success.”
