MERCEDES-BENZ VITO GETS A FACELIFT

by Leisure Wheels

7 April 2021

To celebrate 25 years in the market, Mercedes-Benz South Africa is upping the value offerings of their range of vans.

The Vito is locally available in the Panel Van, Mixto, and Tourer variants, which all benefit from an upgraded radiator grille to give it a more modern look with this facelift upgrade.

According to Nadia Trimmel, Vice-President of Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa, Mercedes-Benz is aware that the facelift Vito is being introduced in a challenging time, but the Vito is a perfect solution for the upsurge in online shopping and logistics that accompany this, in terms of staff transportation, cargo and package deliveries.

“As Mercedes-Benz Vans, we are confident that the Vito facelift will play an integral part in this upsurge, by being a valued partner to a number of small, medium, and large enterprises in our country, as industries evolve amidst changing consumer preferences,” added Trimmel.

Upgrade the look

This facelift upgrade includes, as mentioned, an updated radiator grille with an optional chrome extra that is available when ordered in conjunction with a number of selected factory options. The options that owners can choose from include Active Brake Assist, painted bumpers, and a Driver Assist Package.

The upgrades do not end there. The interior of the entire range has benefitted from a new lick of paint with a new fabric called “Caluma” that is hard-wearing and elegant, with a couple of stripes and lines to distinguish it from previous upholstery. The dashboard also gets an update with upgraded ventilation nozzles (borrowed from the V-Class), with some chrome trim forming part of the chrome package. To finish it off, the heavy-duty waterproof floor covering provides improved dampening and more slip resistance when entering and exiting the vehicle.

Infotainment for all

The facelift doesn’t stop with the looks of the Vito, the infotainment system also gets a spruce-up too. From digital radio reception for crystal clear sound to Bluetooth capabilities across the range of infotainment options (Audio 10, Audio 30, and Audio 40), there’s a lot to choose from. The Audio 30 and 40 options include a 7-inch touch screen with Smartphone Integration via Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.

Safety is a priority

To continue its heritage as a vehicle with safety as a priority, the Vito still incorporates the features that it pioneered in the panel van market six years ago. This includes airbags and seatbelt reminders for both the driver and co-driver, crosswind assist, and attention assist. A new optional extra is Active Brake Assist that detects the risk of a collision while driving and gives the driver an acoustic and visual warning. If the driver reacts, it helps to apply the brake as required by the situation. If the driver does not react, the system actively reacts with braking maneuvers.
