Mitsubishi Motors South Africa have confirmed that the new Triton bakkie will be available locally from mid-2016.
This fifth-generation Triton has been well received in the UK where it is labeled the L200. The Triton boasts a new lightweight 2.4 litre turbo diesel engine that produces 133kW and 430Nm of torque.
The bakkie is reported to be provide a far quieter ‘car-like’ drive while maintaining its workhorse capabilities. Both a 6-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmission will be available.
To help prevent collisions the new Triton features active safety technology such as ASTC (Active Stability & Traction Control), ASL (Adjustable speed Limiter) and TSC (Trailer Sway Control) mated to the ASTC-system.
