Ford has unveiled its new EcoSport subcompact SUV, ahead of the LA Auto Show.
Considering the Ford EcoSport is the best-selling compact SUV outside the United States and that the company’s sales numbers have risen rapidly from 70 000 subcompact sports utility vehicles in 2011 to almost four times that in 2015, the automaker seems to be on the right track.
The new EcoSport gets its power from either a 1.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost three-cylinder engine for front-wheel-drive models, or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder for four-wheel drive. Both engines will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission when the EcoSport goes on sale in early 2018.
The interior comes in plain black or with copper trim and seat accents in the SES model. The EcoSport is fitted with an eight-inch featuring Sync 3, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
There will be four trim levels, starting with S, moving to SE, SES, and finally Titanium. Pricing has not yet been announced.
