All-new Mazda BT-50 breaks cover

Mazda finally unveiled the all-new BT-50.

As you might know by now, the all-new BT-50 is based on the next-generation Isuzu D-Max, with Mazda seemingly only responsible for exterior styling.

The BT-50 will be powered by the upgraded version of Isuzu’s 3.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder powertrain. The well-known engine has undergone some minor changes and the result is 140kW and 450Nm of torque. It will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The interior is also basically the same as it is on the D-Max. It seems the BT-50 will have to do without Mazda’s fancy MZD system, which, to us, doesn’t seem like a problem. The D-Max’s interior seems perfectly fine, as it’s already equipped with everything the modern bakkie customer could want.

Mazda SA is yet to confirm whether the new BT-50 will come to SA.
