Here are the first teaser images of a new VW concept, which will be presented at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show on 25 April.
Design-wise, it has angular headlights with LED technology, joined by an LED strip in the front grille, C-shaped DRLs and wide shoulder lines with its styling seemingly mimicking the new Tiguan compact SUV. The inside has been described as having a heavily digitized, lounge-style interior that sports a new advanced infotainment system.
The release states it is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a total output of 280kW and 700 Nm of torque that allows it to sprint from naught to 96 km/h in 6.0 seconds and up to a top speed of 224 km/h.
The SUV concept has an electric driving range of up to 50 km and the predicted NEDC combined fuel consumption is 3 litres/100 km.
Volkswagen didn’t have anything else to say on the Beijing Concept for the moment, but it probably offers us a glimpse of the next generation of the Touareg, which is due for a 2017 launch.
