Nissan has created the ultimate dog-friendly crossover concept for families, called the Nissan X-Trail 4Dogs.
As it’s names suggests this concept has been adapted to meet the needs of your favourite four-legged friend (or two).
Research from a survey of more than 1300 dog owners in the UK revealed that almost every dog owner considers their pet to be part of the family and that most owners would buy a new car which boasts more dog-friendly features.
With this in mind Nissan developed the X-Trail 4Dogs concept where the 445-litre boot space has been tailored for the family pooch. For example after a long, muddy walk or romp on the beach, you can wash them off with the 360° pull-out shower, then swap for the dog dryer which delivers a jet of air to the wet fur.
There is also a pull out the slide-away ramp so the dogs can walk up into the boot – allowing owners to stay completely mud-free. Inside the boot is an integrated drying system which supplies warm air into the boot space. The inside of the boot is also upholstered in easy to wipe down leather, so any stray dirt or pet hair can easily be cleaned or removed.
Safety in transit is taken care via a clip-on harness hook and dogs can make use of the no-spill water bowl or take a snack from the smart dog treat dispenser.
Perhaps a bit of overkill but the X-Trail 4Dogs is also fitted with a two-way ‘dog-cam’. Integrated into the X-Trail’s NissanConnect infotainment system, it allows the owner and dog to see each other via the seven-inch dashboard display and a new 10-inch LCD screen installed into the boot. The owner can also talk to the dog via an audio link to keep it calm…
