Outback receives more safety as standard

The Outback has been awarded numerous accolades for its safety levels, but that hasn’t stopped Subaru from adding even more safety kit recently.

New radar technology at the rear of the vehicle has made it possible to include Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist.

The rear traffic alert basically lets the driver know when another car is approaching from the side. The blind spot monitoring and lane change assist also lets the driver know when a vehicle is in the Outback’s blind spot, or when the driver is attempting an unsafe lane change.

Also included is High Beam Assist, which uses a camera with a sensor at the front to deactivate the high beam when it notices another vehicle approaching.

As for luxury equipment, the Outback now comes as standard with a more user-friendly smartphone integration with Siri Eyes-Free. This allows you to talk with a Siri enabled smart phone through the voice recognition system.

The enhanced models are available now at all Subaru dealerships in SA.
