Renault has unveiled its new KWID, which will go head-to-head with the Toyota Etios Cross if and when it arrives in SA.
The KWID, like the Etios Cross, is essentially a hatch with plastic body protection and an increased ride height. Renault says that it’s the biggest in its class, but remains to be seen.
On the inside it’s fairly minimal, but it does have a seven-inch touch-screen display.
The KWID is powered by a 0,8-litre mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. It won’t be fast, but we expect it to set a new benchmark in terms of inner-city fuel consumption.
Renault has stated that the KWID will be a global model, so chances are good that we’ll get it here eventually.
