It was recently announced that a Rolls-Royce SUV is in the works. And, at least for the moment, the company is referring to it as the “Cullinan”.
Since Rolls-Royce is owned by BMW these days, it is hardly surprising that the vehicle will share some components with the Teutonic brand’s own upcoming flagship SUV – the X7. However, the Rolls won’t simply be a re-badged BMW. According to Rolls-Royce CEO Mueller-Oetvoes, the SUV will boast its own uniquely designed spaceframe.
As you might expect, the Rolls-Royce SUV will not be a hardcore 4×4. But the company states that the SUV will be able “to go from the opera to the Alps”. It will be large as well – about as long as the Phantom (5842mm).
What will it look like? That remains a mystery. Rolls-Royce did present an early version of the SUV to around 50 Rolls-Royce owners last year , but no one else has been given a look at it. Thankfully, digital car manipulator Theophilus Chin has created a rendering to give us some idea of what a Rolls-Royce SUV might look like.
