Smaller Ford bakkie is on its way

Ford already dominates the bakkie market in the USA, but now it has its eyes set on world domination.

Speculation regarding a sub-Ranger bakkie started last year, and now it pretty much been confirmed by Ford’s president of global markets, Jim Farley.

According to Farley, Ford is definitely looking at more affordable pick-ups and that consumers can expect more than one new model.

Nothing else has been confirmed, but the internet is full of rumours and speculation.

The first offering will likely be a Focus-based pick up in 2022, likely followed by an even smaller bakkie.

The engines will likely be the same offered in the Focus.

This is also brilliant news for Volkswagen fans, following the recent announcement that it and Ford will be working together on commercial vehicles in the future. We know Ford is in charge of designing a new bakkie, while Volkswagen is working on a van.

Could this partnership result in more than one product? We certainly hope so.
