Toyota has unveiled a boat called the Ponam-31 in Japan.
Toyota describes the boat as a sports utility cruiser, and the influence of the company’s automotive creations. Toyota says, for example, that the rear deck “evokes the look of an automotive spoiler.”
Power is also provided by a pair of turbocharged 3.0-liter four-cylinder oilburners – the same D-4D engine used in the company’s SUVs, though they have been tuned specifically for a marine application, and now each push out 191 kW of power.
The Ponam-31 is expensive – the equivalent of about R3 million, but is incredibly plush and well equipped. You can watch the boat in action below…
