Toyota C-HR confirmed for SA

Toyota stunned the world when it revealed its C-HR compact crossover at the Paris Motor Show in 2014.

The good news is that it’s now confirmed for production and it will be introduced in SA in the first quarter of 2017.

The styling is rather out there for a Toyota, but this is a good thing. Compact crossovers tend to be striking, so entering this hotly contested segment with something that looks as good as this is definitely a grand idea.

The C-HR will be equipped with a modern 1.2 litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine punching out 85 kW and 185Nm of torque.

Buyers will have a choice of a 6-speed manual gearbox or a Continuously Variable automatic transmission system.

Local pricing and specification levels will be confirmed closer to its local introduction.
