Toyota has introduced another limited version of the Hilux, this time to celebrate its monumental achievement at the 2015 Dakar Rally, which ended with the car receiving a class win (T1 Petrol) and an overall second place on the podium.
The Dakar treatment will be applied to 50 percent of the limited-edition legend series over a period of three months.
According to Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing, this new model is “inspired by the extreme performance of the world’s most grueling motorsport event where toughness is not just a pay-off line, it’s a prerequisite. People buy Hilux as a workhorse, a family vehicle, or as a mixture of both, which means they are attracted by its renowned ruggedness as well as its car-like comfort. Hilux Dakar delivers the best of both worlds.”
The Dakar differs from the Legend 45 in a number of ways, including the standard fitment of a two-tone front nudge bar in stainless steel with a matt black cross bar and a Dakar decal in white.
You also get the same sort of finish on the load bay styling bar, while a black tonneau cover is included as standard.
The alloy wheels are also finished in a dark grey, as opposed to the lighter shade on the Legend 45. It’s available exclusively in Glacier White or Chromium Silver.
The full black interior now features red stitching, as opposed to the Legend 45, which features black leather with silver accents.
Standard equipment levels remain high, with the Dakar featuring all the standard equipment you’d find on a normal Hilux.
All Hilux Dakar models come standard with a five-year / 90 000km service plan.
