Toyota is adding a sporting “Adventure” trim to the RAV4 compact SUV that is aimed at the US market. The 2018 RAV4 Adventure was revealed at the Chicago Auto Show and is expected to go on sale in September.
The crossover will be available in both front-wheel drive (with automatic limited-slip differential ) or with the automaker’s all-wheel drive system. Other modifications include a slightly raised suspension, 18-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in 235/55R18 tyres, overfenders, lower body guards and roof rails. There are also all-weather mats inside, a 120V outlet in the cargo area and the with Adventure badge on the back of the vehicle. The headlight bezels and area surrounding the fog lights are black.
Both versions will include a standard tow-prep package with upgraded radiator, transmission fluid cooler and engine oil cooler. It will also come standard with trailer-sway control, hill-start assist, and the advanced safety system package.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but Toyota suggests the package will cost around $1,000. There are no plans to bring it to South Africa.
