Toyota and Daihatsu recently launched their new small SUV. The Toyota, which is more relevant to our market, is called the Raize.
Apart from the badges and slightly different front designs, the cars are identical.
The Raize is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, mated to CVT transmission. It delivers 72kW and 140Nm of torque. In Japan, the Raize will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive.
Both models measure in at 3 995mm long, 1 695mm wide and 1 620mm high.
It seems like it’s a practical offering as well, offering a boot capacity of 370 litres.
The interior is equipped with all the latest luxury items, including a touch-screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Raize hasn’t been confirmed for SA yet, but there is definitely a gap for this vehicle in our market, as it slots in underneath the current C-HR.
